Bullying Information

On Dec. 6, 2004, Travis Sleeva, a 16-year-old from Canora, Sask., took his own life. Travis suffered months of harassment from a group school students, and in his suicide letter he stated that he just could not take the fighting anymore. As tragic as Travis' story is, it is not an isolated case. Bullying is a serious problem within Canada, and the problem needs to be addressed.

"Last week, I started work that I hope will eventually lead to the introduction of “Travis’ Bill” in this House. We need to urgently amend the Young Offenders Act and implement a multi-pronged strategy to address the serious bullying problem in Canada." - Garry Breitkreuz, June 7, 2005
