| Did
Minister Goodale seek advice regarding his legal obligations
to keep this information confidential until it was publicly
released on November 23rd? If so, will he make it public?
If
the Minister made inquiries as he claims, did he keep a record
of who was questioned in his office, did he keep a copy of their
responses, and has he handed this information over to the RCMP?
We
now know that the Liberal leader and his staff had advance knowledge
of the announcement. Given the seriousness of the allegations
why didn’t the Minister’s inquiries extend into
the Prime Minister’s Office? How could he conclude that
there was no wrongdoing if he hadn’t questioned all of
those who had advance notice?
Given
that the Finance Minister’s inquiries did not extend into
the Prime Minister’s Office, why didn’t the Liberal
leader initiate an inquiry into his own office?
Can
Minister Goodale explain how he was able to conclude that there
was no leak both before he inquired, and then again after he
inquired, while the RCMP found “sufficient information”
to warrant a criminal investigation?
In
the time that lapsed between the first allegations and the RCMP
beginning their investigation, valuable evidence may have gone
missing or may have been destroyed. As the person responsible
for maintaining confidence in Canada’s capital markets
and in the Office of the Minister of Finance, why didn’t
the Minister immediately ask the RCMP to investigate these allegations
when they were first raised?
Have
the Minister and the Liberal leader taken steps to ensure that
computer files, documents, calendars and other material that
might be relevant to the RCMP investigation is not deleted,
removed or destroyed?
How
will the Minister and Liberal leader ensure that no reprisals
are taken against public servants who cooperate with the RCMP
investigation?
