CFA ensures farmers have seat at the table
(REGINA) – The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA)
is holding a government-industry roundtable session November 24, 2005, in
conjunction with the next federal-provincial-territorial agriculture ministers’
meeting. This follows in a tradition of similar roundtable meetings that began
with the 2001 Whitehorse conference, where ministers emphasized the need to
continue to work in partnership with industry in order to effectively move
the long-term agenda forward.
Federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Andy Mitchell, and his counterparts
from every province, have been asked to take part in the meeting with farm
leaders from across Canada. Farm leaders wish to discuss issues including
the upcoming WTO ministerial meeting in Hong Kong, moving forward on the Wayne
Easter report, and CFA’s work on developing APF II – a Farm Bill
for Canada.
